The First Seal – Pages 154-155

Rev. William M. Branham

275 Did you ever know that the Name of “Jehovah” is not correct? Anyone knows. Dr. Vayle, you know that’s true. The translators could never translate It. It’s spelled J-u-h-v… J-v-h-u, I mean. It isn’t “Jehovah.” They couldn’t touch It. They don’t know what It is. Called It “Jehovah,” but it wasn’t His Name.

276 Look, every time a victory is won, or something goes on, a name is changed.

277 Look at the days of Abraham. He was, first, Abram, and never could have that baby until his name was changed to Abraham. And Sarra, S-a-r-r-a, could not have nothing but a dead womb until her name was changed to S-a-r-a-h.

278 Jacob means “supplanter, deceiver,” and that’s what he did. He put sheepskin on hisself, and deceived his prophet father, to take the birthrights. He put poplar sticks in the water, speckled them, scare the cattle when they was pregnated with the…with their young, to make speckled cattle and sheep. Nothing but a deceiver!

279 But one night he caught a hold of Something real, and he knowed It was real. And he stayed with It, and held on until he overcome. And his name was changed, and called Israel, meaning “a prince with power before God.”

280 Is that right? Every overcomer!

281 Simon was a fisherman. But when his faith caught and knowed that was Jesus, when He told him He was the Messiah, and told him who his name was and what his father’s name was, he was overcome, and changed from Simon to Peter.

282 Saul, good name. Saul, was a king one time in Israel, but he, a Saul, didn’t fit an apostle. Might be all right for a king, but not an apostle. So Jesus changed his name (from what?) from Saul to Paul. Look at “The sons of thunder,” and on down.

283 And, Jesus, His Name on earth was “Redeemer,” Jesus. When He was on earth, He was the Redeemer, that’s true. But when He conquered death and hell, and overcome them, and ascended on High, He received a new Name. That’s the reason you holler the way they do, and they don’t get nothing.

284 It’ll be revealed in the Thunders. Uh-huh. See? Notice the mysteries. He is coming, riding…There’s got to be Something to change this Church. You know that. There’s got to be Something. Notice, “No man knowed, but Himself.” Now, notice, “No man knowed, but Hisself.”

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name was called The Word of God.

Oh, my! Notice!

And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he tread the winepress of the fierceness and the wrath of Almighty God.

And he had on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

285 There comes the Messiah. There He is…

It also says here that He is going to give the overcomer a white stone and in (not on) the stone a new name, which the owner alone knows. Now the idea of a new name is a familiar one. Abram was changed to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah, Jacob to Israel, Simon to Peter, and Saul to Paul. These names either brought about a change, or were given because of a change. It was only after Abram and Sarai had their names changed by the Lord that they were made ready to receive the coming son. In Jacob’s case, he had to overcome and then he was called a prince. In the case of Simon and Saul, when they had received the Lord, their change came. And today each one of us true believers has had a change in name. We are Christians. It is a name common to all of us. But one day we will have another change; we will of a certainty receive a new name. It could well be that name was our true and original name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life from the foundation of the world. He knows the name, but we do not. One day at His good pleasure, we will know also.

A white stone. How beautiful. Here is another picture of the saint receiving recompence from the hand of God for his trials upon earth. You know, after Constantine, the false church was able to dip its hand in the state treasury and thereby erect beautiful buildings full of lovely statuary. These statues, made of white marble, were actually Roman idols renamed as saints. The churches and their furnishings were exceptionally beautiful, even as one sees today. But God was not with them. Where was God? He was with His saints in some little home, or in a cave, or some wild mountain area where they hid from the false church members. They did not have beautiful buildings, gowned choirs, fine clothes, and other worldly attractions. But now in this special promise to the true believers of all ages, God has declared He will give them rewards of great beauty and eternal duration. Let the wealthy look down on the poor. Let them give large sums to the church that it in turn might honor the donor by placing a marble plaque or some statuary in their honor on public display that all may applaud. Some day the God Who sees and knows all will once more commend the widow for giving her all, though it be but two mites, and He, Himself, reward with the treasures of heaven.

Yes, hidden manna and a new name in a white stone. How good is the Lord to us to reward us so wonderfully, and we so undeserving. Oh, I want to be ready at all times to do His will, and to lay up treasures in heaven.

How wonderful. All of God’s wonderful promises fulfilled. It will be all over. The change will have been completed. The Lamb and His bride forever settled in all the perfections of God. Describe it? Who is able to do that? No one. Think about it? Dream about it? Read what the Word says about it? Yes we can do all of that, yet we can only know an infinitesimal part of it until it becomes reality in the first resurrection.

“And I will write my NEW Name upon him.” My New Name. When ALL becomes new, then He will take upon Him a new Name and that Name will be the Name of the bride also. What that Name is, none dare conjecture. It would have to be a revelation of the Spirit given so conclusively that none would dare deny it. But no doubt He will leave that revelation to the day when He desires to give that Name forth. Suffice it to know that it will be more wonderful than we could ever imagine.

God glorifies His Name again

Now, we have seen the name he was looking for. And let’s see a little bit more of that name. So that you have the clear picture, we are turning to page… let’s see which page, so that we have that complete clear picture: Page 26 of the book of Quotations, verse 216; so as not to read too much I will read towards the end for you, where it says1:

“So, seemingly, maybe, I will continue on until that maybe the tent starts, or wherever it is He has chosen to begin to declare His Name in a new way.”

“Declare His Name in a new way,” for it is to declare His Name, to reveal His New Name; that is a new way. The Name of the Lord Jesus Christ in a new way is the New Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Wait until the Angel of Jesus Christ is adopted, and then you will see the fulfillment of the Tent taking place.

And when is it for? It will be for the time when the squeeze comes; therefore, let’s make good use of the time by eating spiritual food, and growing spiritually, and maturing spiritually, as sons and daughters of God, so that when the squeeze comes, if the dead in Christ have not yet been resurrected, they may be resurrected; and we who are living, if we are not yet transformed, may be transformed; because at that stage, when the squeeze comes, that which was seen manifested in the Reverend William Branham temporarily and partially, will be seen manifested in all its fullness.

That Third Pull will be in all its fullness, and the New Name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be there. And the New Name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be glorified, as was the name He used in His First Coming:

[John 12:28] “I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again (once more).”And again, for it is the second time.

Now, in that Third Pull, the Reverend William Branham calls it “the Third Pull” that stage where the manifestation of God in all His fullness will be in the midst of His Church, and therefore things will happen that we didn’t even imagine would be possible. But if God has promised it in His Word, all that He has promised must be fulfilled.

For the resurrection of the dead in Christ, the Third Pull must come, and for our transformation as well. And the Eternal Name of God and the New Name of the Lord Jesus Christ comes there, who says that He will write It upon the overcomer; and that will be the one who will know the mystery of the New Name of Jesus Christ and the mystery of His Coming.

And he will be adopted; and when he is adopted then the greatest miracles and wonders in the entire history of Christianity will be seen, to such an extent that it will shake the Hebrew people; and look at what the Hebrew people are going to say: Page 22 of the book of Quotations, verse 176, at the end, says2:

“When the Lord Jesus shall come for His Bride, and they (that is, the Hebrews) see Him, they’ll say, ‘That’s the One we’ve waited on, there He is!’ He’ll rise with healing in His wings.”

And His wings are the ministries of Moses and Elijah. That is why the Reverend William Branham says: “The great miracles, those are under the ministries of Moses and Elijah3.”
